Sagada - Van Hire. (Updated July 27, 2009)

Unquestionably, the best way to get to Sagada, Banaue or around the Cordillera is by hire van with driver, assuming that you don't have your own vehicle. A van is required because most standard hire cars do not have the ground clearance to make it over some of the rough and muddy provincial roads. Don't hire a car and drive yourself unless you have experience in driving in the Philippines.

For van hire to and around Sagada, I recommend the family of the people who own the Ganduyan Inn, Ganduyan Souvenirs and Ganduyan Museum. The drivers, which are family members, are experienced in driving on the mountain roads, have lots of local knowledge so can tell you about places of interest, and are fluent in English and Tagalog. I have felt very comfortable with their driving style when I was a passenger with them. Another foreign couple, who live in Sagada, regularly use them to travel between Baguio and Sagada and also speak well of them.

They have three vans,  2 Toyota Hiace and 1 Hyundai Starex. The maximum capacity is 8 persons with light luggage or 5 people with heavy luggage.
